Unit 1: Develop an awareness of relationships and sexual health
In this section, learners will be introduced to the key terms that underpin sexual health and why most people want close relationships. Learners will also explore risky sexual behaviour and consent.
In Section 2, learners will explore the basic facts about the human reproductive system, as well as the menstrual cycle.
In this section, the advantages and disadvantages of contraception methods, and how and where to obtain emergency contraception will be covered.
In Section 4, learners will cover the facts and myths of HIV and AIDS, as well as other sexually transmitted infections and how to obtain information, advice and treatment.
The final section will explore society’s response to sexual health and relationships, how sex and sexuality are portrayed in the media, and current legislation.
